A Gettysburg man accused of robbing two stores will go on trial next month.

Melvin L. Williams, 35, of 29 W. Middle St., appeared in Adams County court Monday and was scheduled for an October trial. He must re-appear in court Oct. 6 for jury selection.

Williams is charged with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property.

Williams is accused of robbing the Choice convenience store in Abbottstown on Jan. 6. A store clerk said Williams held a white T-shirt over his face and demanded money. He allegedly left with about $300.

Williams also allegedly robbed the Cross Keys Getty Mart convenience store in Hamilton Township a few days later. Police said a man wielding a gun and hiding his face with a T-shirt robbed the store at routes 30 and 94 shortly before midnight.

The man showed a gun and demanded money from the store clerk. The robber left with an undisclosed amount of money.
