Hager, of Dillsburg, was at Advent Lutheran Church in Springettsbury Township for the Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania's fifth annual quilt auction Sunday.
The event featured 25 quilts and various crafts -- including a crocheted afghan, wooden nativity scene and knitting kit -- that were auctioned to raise money for three area Lutheran children's camps that serve about 1,500 kids per summer.
"My kids have gone to Camp Kirchenwald since they were in first grade," Hager said of her two children, now grown. "Now, my grandson goes there," she said of her grandson Forrest, 6, who attended the camp this summer for the first time.
Hager's quilt was made of panels that depicted wildlife scenes. The quilt symbolizes happy times her kids and grandson gained at the camp, she said.
"It's probably one of the best life experiences my kids have had," she said of Camp Kirchenwald in Lebanon County. "Basically, I worked . . . to make money to pay for their camps because it's all they wanted to do."
Hager's son, Pete Dohner of Dillsburg, said the camp helped him develop creative and leadership skills he uses today at his job as a software developer.
Dohner also said he made lifelong friends at the camp.
"They're some of my best friends that I've ever had," he said.

Quilting is a "very strong Lutheran tradition" in south-central Pennsylvania, she said.
"It's also a . . . German tradition," she said.
