A man who tried to help a girl who was jumped on her way home from school was punched in the head and face by the teenage attackers, according to York City Police.

Leo Lunger of the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue told police he answered his door Thursday afternoon to find a girl who was trying to get away from two teenage boys.

The girl told police the two boys jumped her, and she ran to a nearby home to get away, police said.

When Lunger told the boys to leave and go home, one of the boys hit him in the back of the head while the other hit him in the face, police said. The boys then ran off, he said.

The case remains under investigation, police said.
