The victim was a Hispanic man between 20 and 25 years old, according to a news release from state police at Gettysburg.
About 3 a.m., Charles Eugene Thorton Jr., 42, of Steelton, was headed north in a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix on Route 15 near York Springs, Adams County, police said.
Thorton hit the pedestrian in the northbound lane near Bonners Hill Road, police said. The man was crossing both lanes of Route 15 when he was hit.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
No new information about the man was available Monday.
"If there is somebody missing in that area, if (loved ones) could call my office or state police, that would be a help," said Adams County Coroner Pat Felix.
