Academy Award-winning actor, Richard Dreyfuss will introduce the Dreyfuss Initiative -- a not-for-profit organization that strives to restore the teaching of civics in schools -- at 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle St. in Gettysburg.

On Nov. 19, Dreyfuss will speak at the Dedication Day Ceremony at Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg National Military Park. The event marks the 146th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.Dreyfuss, who starred in "American Graffiti," "Jaws" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," has also been involved in historical documentary projects, including "The Great Battles of the Civil War" and "Lincoln."

He now leads a think tank and advocacy group devoted to restoring the teaching of civics to the nation's classrooms.
