U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts paid a visit to York Sunday afternoon.
At a little after 2 p.m, he stopped by the local Barack Obama headquarters on West Market Street. Kennedy is supporting Obama in Tuesday's primary. He urged about 60 Obama campaign volunteers to canvass hard for their candidate in the hours remaining before the primary vote.
"Not only the eyes of Pennsylvania, but the eyes of the country, of the world, are going to be on what you do in Pennsylvania," Kennedy said.
Afterward, Kennedy stopped by York County Democratic Headquarters, located across the street, where local Democrats were holding an open house and barbecue on Sunday afternoon.
Kennedy didn't speak out specifically for Obama at Democratic headquarters, but just thanked local volunteers for their efforts on behalf of the party. He mentioned U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa.
"Bob Casey wouldn't have the opportunity to serve, I wouldn't have served, if not for people like you," Kennedy said.
