The Daily Record/Sunday News has named its winter 2007 YAIAA Div. I wrestling all-stars.

Co-Wrestlers of the Year

Chris Albright, Red Lion: The Lion senior fell just short of the PIAA gold medal that every wrestler seeks, losing a heartbreaking 2-1 decision in the PIAA 125-pound final. A rare three-time District 3 champion, Albright's last season was a 41-3 campaign with two losses to state champions.

James English, Central York: This Panther standout finished third in the PIAA championships' 145-pound weight class, giving District 3 a 1-2-3 sweep in Class AAA. His numbers are tremendous - 150 career wins, three trips to the state tournament, two PIAA medals and the school's first district gold medal.

All-stars

Randy Abel, Spring Grove: This middleweight was a big point scorer for the Division I champions, going 31-14. A repeat all-star, Abel reached the Class AAA 140-pound semifinals but dropped two consecutive matches to end his season. He was a finalist at 145 at the New Oxford Invitational and a sectional champion.

Cory Baker, Spring Grove: A returning 2007 state qualifier, Baker's return trip to Hershey was scuttled by Dahlheimer's win in the Class AAA 171-pound consolation final. The senior came through big for the Rockets' championship season, often bumping up to 189 for the team. He finished with a 36-11 mark.

on the all-star team. Beers had a bittersweet end to an excellent season, losing an overtime match in the district semifinals and a one-point decision in the consolations. But he ended up with a 30-4 record plus championships from the Solanco Mule Classic and the New Oxford Invitational.

Jonathan Childress, Dallastown: A fourth-place finish at districts left this slick 119-pounder one spot short of reaching the state tournament. This junior earned a sectional crown to go with three regular season tournament titles - the Manheim Township Invitational, the Nazareth Invitational and his own Dallastown tournament - on his way to a 37-7 record.

Keith Dahlheimer, Red Lion: This Lion wrestler joined older brother Chris as a state qualifier, making the most of his first PIAA tournament with an eighth-place medal in the Class AAA 171-pound competition. Dahlheimer earned his state berth with a third-place victory at districts over fellow all-star Baker. His compiled a 39-11 record and his second sectional championship.

Clay Gable, Dallastown: The junior was a PIAA qualifier with a third-place finish at districts in the Class AAA 160-pound class. Gable was 39-9 and a leader on a young Dallastown squad while winning golds at the Battle at the Beach tournament and the Dallastown tournament.

Zach Grove, Central York: After finishing the regular season unbeaten, the senior ripped through the sectional tournament before losing to the eventual Class AAA district champion at 135. He bounced back with one consolation round win but was eliminated with a tough 3-2 decision. The Panther wrestler was 33-2.

Gary Lantz, Kennard-Dale: The Ram senior topped a stellar career as the program's winningest wrestler (125 victories) with an appearance at the PIAA championships. He earned his state spot after reaching the Class AAA 160-pound district final. He was 35-4 with a sectional championship.

Zach Oberlander, Dallastown: A return trip to the PIAA championships earned the lanky Wildcat a second medal, this one a fifth-place in the Class AAA 125-pound weight class. Oberlander capped his career off with a 37-5 senior season that included regular-season crowns from the Battle at the Beach tournament in Delaware and the Dallastown tournament, plus a sectional title earned with a 6-5 decision over fellow all-star Albright.

Bryar Robinson, Kennard-Dale: The junior reached the District 3 Class AAA consolation final at 130 but lost a tight 4-2 decision, leaving him just short of reaching the PIAA championships. Robinson finished the season with a 32-7 mark. He had top-four finishes in all of the Rams' regular-season tournaments, including the 135-pound championship at the Governor Mifflin Holiday Tournament

Cameron Throckmorton, South Western: This freshman made quite a splash in his first varsity campaign with the Mustangs, finishing fourth at 103 in the PIAA championships. He finished the season with a 40-3, with all three losses to state medal winners. He became a rare freshman District 3 champion, avenging his lone regular season loss with the overtime decision, and also claimed the 103-pound crown at the prestigious King of the Mountain tournament.

Nate Warner, Spring Grove: The senior was a major contributor to the Rockets' Division I championship run. The 130-pounder won the sectional crown and reached the district semifinals before ending his 33-9 season with two straight losses. Warner reached the finals of three regular-season tournaments, including the huge Escape the Rock at Council Rock South in District 1.

Coach of the Year

Tony Miller, Spring Grove: Miller led the Rockets to possibly the best dual-match season in the program's history. His squad finished 15-2, which included a 7-0 Division I record. In tournament action, Miller's crew finished second at the Ephrata Duals, the Penn Manor tournament and the New Oxford Invitational.
