WASHINGTON—The federal government is awarding grants to three Pennsylvania cities to redevelop brownfields, or polluted former industrial sites.
Philadelphia is getting $6 million for three projects, Pittsburgh is getting $3 million for two projects, and the city of Jeannette in Westmoreland County is getting $480,000.
The grants were announced Thursday by Pennsylvania's U.S. senators, Arlen Specter and Bob Casey.
