Alexandre Giroux, who scored two goals a week ago in leading the Hershey Bears to an 8-1 victory against the Binghamton Senators, scored two more Saturday night, the second coming 71 seconds into overtime, to lift the Bears to a 3-2 victory over the Senators at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The two goals gave Giroux five for the season, and, combined with his assist on John Carlson's second-period goal, a three-point night that vaulted him into a tie with linemate Andrew Gordon for the AHL scoring lead.

Giroux now has five goals and five assists for 10 points; Gordon, who also assisted on Carlson's goal to extend his point streak to six games, has four goals and six assists.

The victory also enabled the Bears to remain in a tie for first place in the East Division with the Albany River Rats, who beat Adirondack in overtime Saturday. The Bears and the River Rats each have eight points.

Giroux opened the scoring at 4:23 of the first period, but the Senators tied the game just over three minutes later on a power-play goal by Josh Hennessy. They took a 2-1 lead when Cody Bass scored at 7:43 of the second period.

Carlson got the equalizer on a power play midway through the period, , and the 2-2 count held until Giroux netted the game-winner at 1:11 of overtime.

Hershey's Michal Neuvirth stopped 34-of-36 shots to post his first victory of the season.
