More than $41 million of state money will be invested in York County in bridges, businesses and community projects, Gov. Ed Rendell said today at a stop in Loganville.

The investments will create 194 jobs and help retain another 480 jobs, according to the governor's office. The projects are:

  • Komax Systems, a solar energy company, in Loganville was given $600,000 toward building a new research and manufacturing facility in Springettsbury Township.

  • Service Tire Truck Center was given $2.5 million in low-interest loans and grants to open a center in Springettsbury Township.

  • Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center was given $2.5 million to build a new facility that will serve about 170 children.

  • York College was given $2.5 million to develop the Smurfit-Stone property to provide a new campus security office, fund housing for six to eight criminal justice students and to remodel a warehouse for new start-up businesses.

  • Sixteen bridges in York County will be repaired, costing $33 million.

The economic development money is part of more than $642 million in new investments statewide announced by Rendell in a five-day bus tour that was to end later today in Reading.
