If, while driving, you happen upon an incident alongside the road that involves an emergency responder, move over.
State police will be watching to make sure you do.
State police and the state Department of Transportation began campaign to make sure the state law that requires motorists to move at least one lane away from emergency situations -- the so-called Steer Clear law -- is followed. Emergency responders include police, firefighters and tow-truck operators.
If you cannot move over because of traffic or other road conditions, you must reduce your speed to a safe level. Failure to do so could lead to a fine of up to $250.
