Recently, we learned that McDonald's has outsourced its drive-through order-taking to call centers in North Dakota and New Mexico, which was kind of refreshing because a lot of us would have expected the task would have been sent to India, call center for the world.

So there's that.

But still, adding such complication to what appears to be a simple task is perplexing. I guess McDonald's saves some money by having minimum wage slaves in North Dakota and New Mexico take orders instead of York County minimum-wage slaves.

But maybe McDonald's is on to something. Perhaps other tasks at its outlets can be outsourced, reducing its reliance upon the assortment of teenagers and minimum-wage workers it depend upon to serve up Big Macs and McNuggets.
