ROSES: To York County Community Against Racism for bringing in two thought-provoking speakers at its 6th annual meeting last weekend. Eddie Moore Jr. and Tim Wise discussed the controversial topic of white privilege.
ROSES: To Fred Rosenmiller for donating a large collection of antique local bottles and a 1917 Bell Motor Car to the York County Heritage Trust as a way to preserve local history.
ROSES: To Abby Snook of Central York High School for winning the York County Junior Miss competition last weekend.
THORNS: To ManorCare-South for being put on a provisional license by the state as result of the death of a 90-year-old man who fell out of his bed and hit his head Jan. 1.
THORNS: To Anthony C. Muscarelli, former owner of Mukie's Seal Coating and Muscarelli Paving Ltd. for scamming customers out of money. He was sentenced to one to two years in prison.
ROSES: To RuPaul and Club XS in North York for their presentation of a Hollywood-themed party to raise money for HIV and
ROSES: To everyone who participated in a walkathon to benefit Jewish Family Services of York's food pantry.
ROSES: To the YMCA and other nonprofits for holding workshops on how they can better serve the local immigrant population.
ROSES: To Mother Goose for returning to the wild. And roses also to the volunteers at Bird Rescue of York County who nursed back to health the goose that nested in the Springettsbury Borders Books parking lot and was injured during a recent storm.
ROSES: To Wanda Golden, a postal carrier in Brogue, who was recently honored for returning a child to his home after he wandered out of his yard and followed her delivery vehicle.
ROSES: To the Rev. James Waltz for deciding to become an Army National Guard recruiter to take the place of a local recruiter who promised his recruits he'd follow them to Iraq. Roses also to the recruiter, Sgt. 1st Class Michael Thayer, who has requested deployment.
ROSES: To Goodwill for offering free shredding of sensitive documents recently at the York Expo Center.
