The economy is in the tank, as bad as we've seen since Ronnie Reagan, more than 20 years ago. We are in an illegal, unwinable war that has cost more than 5,000 American lives (a thousand civilians to go with the military losses). The cost of this war will top a trillion (with a T) dollars. We are burning through a finite fuel source with no alternative in sight. Spewing CO2 into the atmosphere at an alarming rate. Politicians in Washington accomplish nothing. Politicians in Harrisburg accomplish nothing. And Robert Ritchie (letter, June 26) thinks the biggest election issue is gay marriage. That doesn't even make the top 10. No wonder this country is in the condition it is in.
People like Ritchie are more concerned with who does what to whom in the privacy of their own homes than finding answers to real problems. Remember, the Bible is a compilation of writings picked by the Catholic hierarchy in the 13th century. It is the word of God as those men saw it more than half a millennium ago. With the Old Testament having nothing to do with Christianity. It is essentially the Jewish Torah.
Isn't it convenient for so-called "Christians" to pick and choose from which book of the Bible they need to use as fuel for bonfires in which to burn sinners at the stake (metaphorically). It worked during the Inquisition, let's get back to some of that old time religion.
