- The Humane League of Lancaster County offers many opportunities for interested individuals to gain experience working with animals, learn more about animal welfare issues, and work with other animal lovers to improve the lives of animals in our community. - Humane Society of Harrisburg Area's Fur Ball Gala and Auction will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 7. The event will include live and silent auctions, entertainment by Clockwork (courtesy of Larry and Ann Bitner), adoptable dogs, dinner and a dessert reception. Menu includes Asian salad, medallion of NY strip steak with a mixed peppercorn cream sauce, paired with shrimp scampi and topped with puff pastry; accompanied by au gratin potatoes and fresh vegetables OR penne pasta tossed with fresh spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and garlic in a Parmesan cream sauce; accompanied by fresh vegetables. - The Humane Society of Harford County's Walk & Wag-a-Thon and Pet Fair, a benefit for the homeless and abused animals of Harford County, will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Harford County Equestrian Center, 608 N. Tollgate Road, Bel Air, MD. The walking route, which suits all levels of walkers, is approximately one mile. Participants are urged to collect pledges and to ask family, friends and co-workers to support the animals. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walk will step off at noon. Attendees can enjoy a demonstration by Mid-Atlantic Disc Dogs, a costume contest, a human/canine lookalike contest, an obedience demonstration, a best trick contest, a musical tails game, food, vendors, family fun, a microchip clinic and nail clipping station, and more. - Eat at Isaac's Restaurant and Deli from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, and 25 percent of your total bill will benefit York County SPCA.
