The York Revolution split a doubleheader with the Somerset Patriots on Saturday night at Commerce Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J.
The Revs won the opener, 11-5, and lost the nightcap, 9-1.
In Game 1, York took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Keoni DeRenne singled and scored on an RBI double by Travis Ezi, who would later score on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Tyler Von Schell.
The Revolution added two more runs in the top of the second inning. Matt Dryer reached on a fielder's choice, Luis Taveras walked, and DeRenne walked to load the bases. Ezi and Matt Padgett each drew bases-loaded walks to make the score 4-0.
York extended the lead with five runs in the top of the third inning. Matt Esquivel walked, and Dryer reached on a single. Kenny Perez followed with an RBI single. Taveras then cleared the bases with a three-run home run, his second of the year.
DeRenne followed with a solo home run, his first of the season, for a 9-0 advantage.
Revs starter Wayne Franklin (3-0) picked up the win in Game 1, allowing five earned runs on seven hits in five innings pitched.
Patriots starter D.J. Mattox (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs on three hits in two innings pitched.
In Game 2, the Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Sean Smith hit a bunt single and scored on an RBI double by Brandon Larson. After Josh Pressley drew a walk, Teuris Olivares drove home two runs on a
Somerset added five runs to the lead in the bottom of the second inning. The highlight was a three-run home run by Vito Chiaravalloti.
York got on the board with a run in the top of the third inning on a solo home run by Sandy Aracena, his first of the year. That was the Revs' only run of the game.
Patriots starter Brian Adams (2-0) picked up the win, allowing an earned run on three hits in five innings pitched.
York starter Aaron Myette (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits in four innings pitched.
The Revs will conclude the series and their road trip with a 1:35 p.m. game today in Somerset.
After an off-day on Monday, York will open a six-game homestand on Tuesday night at Sovereign Bank Stadium against the Newark Bears.
Barnstormers top Bears: In Newark, N.J., lefty Zack Parker continued his strong early season pitching for the Lancaster Barnstormers as he surrendered only two runs over 61/3 innings in shutting down the Newark Bears, 7-2, Saturday night at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
The Bears and Barnstormers will play a doubleheader today, with the first game starting at 1:35 p.m.
Newark will start left-hander Benito Baez and righty David Pellegrine in the twinbill. Lancaster will counter with a pair of right-handers -- Mike Nannini and Tim McClaskey.
