Josh Pressley made sure the York Revolution's road woes continued. The Somerset slugger bashed a single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Patriots a 6-5 win.
The loss capped the Revs' road trip with a 1-6 record. After York's relief pitchers were effective in the middle innings, it was wildness that ultimately lead to defeat.
Jason Olson, who had yet to allow a run this year, gave up a single Gera Alvarez with one out in the final frame. A wild pitch allowed him to scamper to third. After a hit batsman, Pressley came to the plate and provided the heroics.
Chris Hoiles' squad is now 6-10.
However, York returns home where it is 5-1 this season, and opens a six-game homestand against the Newark Bears at 7:07 Tuesday night. The game is also the first All-You-Can-Eat with an Oriole at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Joe Orsulak is Tuesday's guest.
Hoiles' team opened strong, getting walks from Keoni DeRenne and Travis Ezi. A single from Matt Padgett kept trouble brewing.
But Patriots hurler Brandon Knight battled back, earning two strikeouts.
It looked like the Revolution would not cash in. Then Matt Esquivel hit a clutch single to make it 2-0, York.
The Patriots rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the inning, but York bounced right back on top.
Kenny Perez doubled to the opposite field and took third on a botched pickoff play.
Then DeRenne, who entered the game hitting .220, brought the run home with a groundout.
