Corey Thurman hasn't needed much help in recent weeks. The York Revolution starting pitcher has developed into an ace after losing his first five decisions.

But Revs hitters decided to give him a reason to relax on Friday night.

York beat the Long Island Ducks, 9-6, at Citibank Park in Central Islip, N.Y. And while Thurman continued to impress, York's hitters deserved most of the attention.

The visitors clubbed a franchise-tying 20 hits and five York batters posted a three-hit game.

The turning point came during a six-run fourth inning. The offensive outburst had to baffle Long Island, or more specifically, cause the Ducks front office to wonder why it hasn't figured out a way to sign outfielder Jason Aspito.

The Atlantic League all-star clubbed his seventh homer in 10 career games at Long Island to cap the fourth-inning scoring. It was his 11th homer of the season.

Matt Padgett started the rally with a double, and Chris Ashby added an RBI double to chase Ducks starter Jonathan Asahina (1-2).

Padgett hit his fourth homer of the season with a solo shot in the seventh. The home run snapped a longball dry spell for Padgett that had lasted for more than a month.

York (3-4) trailed Long Island (4-3) after the first when the Ducks scored three runs on four hits. But Thurman (6-6) dominated after a difficult first inning. He allowed one hit in his final six innings of work, and set down the Ducks in order in five of his final

six frames.

The one hit he allowed was a solo homer to Ray Navarrete for his 17th homer of the season.

The victory allowed York to move within one game of Freedom Division-leading Somerset and Lancaster in the second-half standings.

York's Dan Foli pitched a scoreless eighth, and Aaron Rakers finished the game despite allowing a two-run homer by Edgardo Alfonzo in the ninth.
