The York Revolution returned home in historic fashion.

In the longest nine-inning game in Revs history, York and the Bridgeport Bluefish combined for 23 runs and 41 hits Monday night as the Revs returned home to 3,423 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium for the first time since July 6.

Unfortunately for York, who pounded out 20 hits for the third time this month, the Revs came out on the short end of a 15-8 game that lasted 4 hours and 12 minutes.

"This was terrible," Bridgeport manager Tommy John said. "This was not good baseball."

Bridgeport (8-2) set a new season high for hits and runs scored against the Revs this season.

"We've been hitting the ball well," John said of his club, which finished with 21 hits.

Eight of the nine Bluefish starters had multi-hit games, while the Revs countered with six of nine in an offensive night.

After just four innings, the teams had scored a combined 13 runs on 23 hits. Neither starting pitcher lasted past the fourth inning. York's

Franklin went just 21/3 innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits. Bridgeport's Barry Hertzler didn't fare much better, lasting 32/3 innings, giving up five runs on 11

hits.

"Wayne didn't have his best stuff," York manager Chris Hoiles said.

Deuces were wild for the Blue Fish as they had four innings of scoring two runs, but a four-run seventh inning made the difference.

"Everything was fine until the seventh," Hoiles said. "Both teams hit well."

In that frame, the Bluefish sent eight batters to plate and scored the four runs on five hits and two Revs errors.

Doubles by Wilson Batista and Brian Munhall followed singles by Ryan Bear and Steve Doetsch.

Bear came around to score on Doetsch's single to center field after it got by York's Kennard Jones. Batista's double to right field scored Doetsch.

Henry Mateo's infield base hit brought home Munhall with the Bluefish's 12th run of the night.

The Bluefish tacked on three runs in the eighth on four hits, including a two-runsingle by Alex Prieto. Prieto finished the game 3-for-5 with six RBIs.

That was after the Revs tried to battle their way back after twice trailing by five runs early in the game. The Revs trailed 6-1 as they came to the plate in the third inning.

RBI singles by Matt Esquivel and Sandy Aracena cut the lead to three, but the Bluefish answered right back with two runs in the fourth inning.

An RBI double by Jay Caligiuri (2-for-6) scored Branden Florence. Caligiuri then scored on a fielder's choice by Doetsch.

The Revs scored a run each in the fifth and sixth to bring the score to 8-7. Jose Enrique Cruz launched his third homer of the season in the fifth. Then Matt Padgett scored on a passed ball in the sixth, but that's as close to the lead as the Revs would get.
