SWINE FLU UPDATES FROM CDC

WHERE TO GET YOUR SHOT

The York-Adams Metropolitan Medical Response Team is coordinating efforts to administer the H1N1 flu vaccine to as many as 200,000 residents who are considered high priority in both counties.

The vaccine is to be released in waves from the state Department of Health, starting in mid-October.

Two doses administered 30 days apart may be required.

High-risk groups will be reached in a variety of ways:

· Pregnant women will receive it from their obstetrician s office.
· Health care workers will receive it from their employer.
· School-age children will likely be vaccinated in school.
· Preschool-age children and people up to 24 years old would receive the shots at vaccination clinics.
· Household contacts of infants younger than 6 months of age will get the shots at vaccination clinics.
· Adults with serious chronic illnesses will receive it from public vaccination clinics.
